Eluru: The workers of Sri Krishna Jute Mill went on a day’s strike on Saturday demanding that the management pay the arrears of pending bonus and enhance the workers’ wages.

The workers for the past few months are demanding the management pay the bonus arrears besides the enhancement of the wages. As the management did not respond on their demands, they staged a dharna at the office of the mill irrespective of the union affiliations on Friday. Following this, on Saturday, the workers went on a strike. 

The workers, who participated in the strike in the mill, has resorted to a rasta roko on GNT Road near the jute mill. Following this, vehicular traffic was stranded.  The workers said that the management has to pay arrears of bonus for 2014-2015. However, it has stopped the payment by getting a stay order from the court, they added.
