Eluru: The leaders of all parties staged a dharna at Potti Sriramulu Statue in Vasanta Mahal centre here on Thursday, protesting against the hunger strike of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The leaders led by Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samiti reached Vasanta Mahal centre and started the dharna. The leaders, Dega Prabhakar (CPI), P Kishore (CPM) and Rajanala Ramamohan Rao (Congress) addressing the dharna criticised that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi did not allow the no-confidence motion against his government for discussion and now staging the hunger strike.

They flayed that the Prime Minister had betrayed the Andhra Pradesh people and also imposed the financial burden on the common man in the country. They stated that if the BJP fulfils the assurance given four years ago, the unemployed might get employment by then only. The TDP was also a partner in the betrayal, they alleged.

The protestors demanded that the Prime Minister Modi accord Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh at least now. Otherwise, they would intensify the fight against the Centre.

The CPM leaders, Mavuri Srinivasa Rao, J Hrisha Durga, B Jagannadham, P Adiseshu, CPI city secretary P Kannababu, K Krishnamacharyulu, U Hemasankar, Congress leaders Gadi Sarojini Devi, Chandrakantha, Jillellamudi Narasimha Rao, Youth Congress leaders Adapa Rajesh, Didde Venkatrao, Nerusu Rambabu, participated in the dharna.
