Kakinada: The bandh aimed at protesting against the Centre’s failure to accord Special Category Status to AP was a success in East Godavari district on Monday.

Activists of CPI, CPM, Congress, YSRCP and JSP participated in the agitation right from the beginning of the day. The activists rushed to the Kakinada RTC depot and obstructed the bus services. They squatted before the RTC bus stand in protest against the attitude of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards Andhra Pradesh State.

Political parties Jana Sena, CPI and CPM organised Padayatra from Bhanu Gudi Junction, Two Town Police Station, Masjid Centre up to the Collectorate.During their protest, the activists asked the merchants to close their shops and to cooperate the state bandh.

Speaking on this occasion, CPI district secretary T Madhu, DCC president Nanaji, CPM leader Duvva Seshu Babji, Jana Sena Party leader Jyothula Venkateswara Rao, YSRCP leader Frooti Kumar and others flayed PM Modi for denying SCS to AP. They threatened that they would teach a lesson to the BJP, if it failed to fulfil the promises made to the AP in the State Reorganization Act. They wanted Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to strive hard sincerely for the Special Category Status.

Speaking on this occasion, CPI district secretary Madhu informed that they would stop the supply of electricity (electricity bandh) on April 17. On April 20, they would organise a public meeting in Rajamahendravaram to protest against the betrayal of the Central government.The district police deployed huge police force at the RTC bus stand to regulate riots during the bandh.
