SPMVV enters MoU with IAS study circle
Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV), the only women’s university in the state, has come out with another novel course to make more women become civil servants. From the coming academic year, they have proposed to start a five-year integrated course for those who completed intermediate.

From the coming academic year, they have proposed to start a five-year integrated course for those who completed intermediate. Under the programme, BA with public policy and anthropology will be offered which are said to be the most sought-after courses to score more marks in the Civil Services examinations. For this, the university has entered an MoU with Dr Lakshmaiah IAS Study Circle in two aspects recently.
First, training will be provided to those studying various PG or degree courses already. For them, training for Civil Services examinations will be given for two hours each in the morning and evening. Along with SPMVV students any women student can enrol for this programme and those who qualify under the NTR Vidyonnathi Scheme will get free training and others have to pay the required fee which is yet to be finalised.
Students have to get through the entrance examination to qualify under NTR Vidyonnathi Scheme besides fulfilling other criteria. Speaking to The Hans India, SPMVV Rector Prof V Uma said the faculty, course material and other things will be taken care of by Dr Lakshmaiah IAS Study Circle. Five-year integrated course with multiple exit and entry options will be introduced from the coming academic year for which students have to apply and qualify in the SPMVV CET to be held on May 20. The entrance test will be held for this course in NCERT social science syllabus of class 6 to 10. The three-hour duration test will comprise objective type questions and reservation policy will be followed, said the Rector.
“The course has been designed so that the content in BA will be useful for both the degree course and to meet the needs for civil services exams. The course will lay special focus on other subjects like geography, ancient culture, ecology, reasoning etc. Right from BA first year, students will be taught for degree and competitive examinations,” Prof Uma explained. After BA students can exit or can continue MA according to their choice. The varsity has been contemplating with one more option of giving BA (Hons) degree for those who completes four-year course.
“Those who are keen to go into services can prefer this course which will offer required coaching by a reputed institute and experienced faculty. The idea is brainchild of our Vice Chancellor Prof V Durga Bhavani that more women should enter services. We want to see more women from our alumni to be there in Civil services.
To provide a platform for those coming from financially poor background to reach their dream goals, we work with Dr Lakshmaiah IAS Study Circle on cost sharing business”, Prof Uma asserted.
