Srikakulam: A large number of devotees thronged the Sun God temple at Arasavalli in Srikakulam on the third Sunday of Vaisakha masam. Devotees from far and near reached the temple in the early hours of Sunday to have darshan of the presiding deity. Devotees believe that having darshan of Lord Suryanarayana Swamy on the third Sunday in Vaisakha masam will provide health, wealth and good yield for farmers.

Hence, farmers have darshan before starting the kharif works. Temple officials arranged separate queue lines to clear rush. Special and VIP darshan queue lines were arranged with Rs 100 and Rs 500 tickets. Police made elaborate arrangements with one CI, three sub-inspectors, 80 constables, Special Protection Force and home guards.

Srikakulam One Town CI Boora Prasada Rao supervised clearance of devotees’ rush all along the day. In the wake of summer heat, water and butter milk packets were distributed by the temple officials and NGOs to devotees.
