Ongole: Former IPS officer VV Lakshminarayana announced that he want to see farmers as kings. The former joint director of CBI will be touring Prakasam district for five days. During his tour he is scheduled to interact with a cross section of people.

On the first day on Sunday, he started his tour at Vinodarayunipalem, native place Prakasam Pantulum by garlanding his statue. Later, he reached Pavuluru village and participated in a special puja at Anjaneya Swamy temple and interacted with the farmers of chilli, chick peas, flax and representatives of cold storages.

After lunch with the villagers, he visited the salt fields at Chinaganjam and interacted with the salt farmers. Later, he visited the old age home at Desaipet and organised Rachabanda programme with the farmers in Old Chirala. He then visited the Saraswati Niketanam, the old library at Vetapalem, which was visited by Mahatma Gandhi, during his south India tour and made a night halt at the village.

During the interaction at Pavuluru, farmers explained their problems to him. Lakshminarayana shared his experiences and suggested to the farmers to form a cooperative group. Former lecturer at Bapatla Engineering College Lakshmi Narayana said that farmers should use technology and plan to start food processing industry on their own with the help of bank loans.

He asked them to consider changing the crops and use seeds developed at Bapatla Agriculture College and others so that they can get good produce at low investment.

The salt farmers at Chinaganjam said that they require loans from banks to use advance technologies and tools in manufacturing salt. They also spoke about the need of storage and marketing facilities. Lakshminarayana said that he understand the issues and will try to find a better solution and inform them.
