FALCON vehicle to guard Atma Gaurava Yatra today
The first ever field alert centre for operational networking (FALCON) mobile command control post was handed over to the Visakhapatnam police by the Andhra Pradesh police department in the city.
Visakhapatnam: The first ever field alert centre for operational networking (FALCON) mobile command control post was handed over to the Visakhapatnam police by the Andhra Pradesh police department in the city. After Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched it at Kuppam in November 2017, which was developed by Chittoor police, the AP police brought it to Visakhapatnam here on Monday.
The command post was equipped with advanced digital equipment such as high resolution five HD monitors attached to modern computers with two servers with 16 and eight terra byte capacity storage, HD PTZ CC cameras with control joy sticks, scanners, modern ultra frequency wireless sets, multi networking video recording, intruder detection, people and their head count facility, mild stone application with face recognition software and data receiving and transfer modules with a network range of 300 meters.
The vehicles were also equipped with a power generator, UPS, air-conditioning, fridge, oven, four-wireless cameras and video wall. Apart from deployment for VIP movements, the command post would also play a crucial role in crime control and alerting police.
Speaking to media, City Police Commissioner T Yoganand said the Falcon vehicle would be used in keeping vigil in congregations, during VIP visits and Giri Pradhakshina’s from a distance of about 3 km. The Falcon vehicle will be first used at TDP's “Atma Gaurava Sanghibhava Yatra” to be held on May 22 at AU engineering grounds in the city, he added.
