Vijayawada: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Gajarao Bhupal and other police officials on Monday visited Chennuvaripalle village of Gannavaram mandal and asked the local residents not to get panicked with the rumours in social media that inter-state criminal gangs may attack the villagers with lethal weapons and rob their valuables.

He made this visit to the village in view of the rumours spreading in the villages of Gannavaram, Bapulapadu and Unguturu mandals that some inter-state hardcore criminal gangs were wandering in the villages and they may even kidnap the children and kill.

Some ghastly images comprising the photos of some young men and women and bodies of children have become viral in the WhatsApp groups for the last few days.

Villagers living in the remote areas in these mandals are panicked with these messages. The villagers are not willing to go outside during the nights. Even during the day time, the villagers are not going out alone. Rumours spread that the criminal gang members speak only Hindi and they mercilessly kill people with lethal weapons and rob valuables from their homes.

DCP Gajarao Bhupal told the villagers that the police are ready to help them. He made it clear that no such criminal gangs are in the district or state. He asked them to call to the Gannavaram police station phone number 08676-252333 when they need the help.

People living in some villages of Bapulapadu and Unguturu mandals are also panicked with the WhatsApp posts consisting of ghastly images with the bodies of children and lethal weapons.
