Speaking to The Hans India on various developments in his department, Minister for Forests and Environment Sidda Raghava Rao said the proposal for establishing Amaravati Zoo Park at Kondaveedu has almost been finalised and the officials were directed to prepare plans for it. I

n fact, the government formed a committee to identify suitable place for setting up of new zoological park. The committee is searching for suitable places in Kondapalli, Mangalagiri, Kondaveedu and other forest patches in the CRDA.

The Amaravati Zoo Park will be developed as a tourist attraction to draw visitors from across the world, the minister said and added at the same time, the department will develop zoo parks at Tirupati and Vizag on par with global standards.

The minister said the zoo park at Tirupati would be developed with the cooperation of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. He further said the eco-tourism and temple tourism gained importance in the state, particularly in the last one year. In total, 10 temple tourism spots are being promoted.

They are- Annavaram, Dwaraka Tirumala, Indrakeeladri, Mangalagiri, Srisailam, Ahobilam, Maha Nandi, Timmamma Marri Mani in Anantapur and Boyakonda. In all these identified areas, the forest department will work on hill afforestation and eco-parks development near the temples.
