Youth leaving abroad for greener pastures
Due to lack of employment opportunities with good salaries, majority of skilled and talented youth are flying to foreign countries. As they are getting good job opportunities with attractive salaries, the talented minds leaving the mother land. The youth, who are having good communication and technical skills, have been getting opportunities at various countries.
Visakhapatnam: Due to lack of employment opportunities with good salaries, majority of skilled and talented youth are flying to foreign countries. As they are getting good job opportunities with attractive salaries, the talented minds leaving the mother land. The youth, who are having good communication and technical skills, have been getting opportunities at various countries.
According to 2011 census, as many as 33,000 skilled and talented scientists, doctors, engineers, nurses and many other professionals left Visakhapatnam district and settled in various nations. This is only skilled and talented professionals. In fact, over 50,000 semi-skilled and unskilled persons left Visakhapatnam and joined various jobs in different countries.
From 2010 to 2017, the number of skilled and talented immigrants crossed 50,000. Interestingly, single women are also flying to various countries and settling in jobs. Getting a job with an attractive salary has become hard and inspired from the people who were already working in other nations, after completing their education and professional training, the youth immigrating to various nations.
From 2000 to 2010, the number of immigrants from Visakhapatnam rushed to the United Arab Emirates particularly to Dubai, Sharjah and Qatar. But, there is a significant change from 2010 to 2017, now the people are rushing several other nations, including Australia, the US and African countries.
“Yes, the number of talented and skilled people are leaving Visakhpatnam and settling in various other nations. As the number of job opportunities with attractive payments, the talented brains leaving their mother land. Due to this, there is brain drain of scientists, doctors, engineers and other professionals resulting in loss to the country.
The people are migrating after studies to other nations as they are finding better environment, work culture, facilities and particularly remuneration,” Tallapaka Manjula, who did her research in Andhra University, told The Hans India. If the governments can provide better avenues with suitable platforms, the knowledge could be retained in the country and the expertise could be used for our people, Manjula added.
The people, who are earning good income, are transferring amounts to their family to look after the welfare and also procuring assets. This is one of the good signs as it improves economy. The number of students is also rushing to foreign countries for higher education and also settling there after completion of education. Most of them are on H1-B visa and some of the women are on spouse visa, Manjula explained.
Some of the immigrants after a few years, who satisfied with their earning, are coming back to motherland. But the number is very less when compared to outgoing people. For her research findings on the immigrations, the Andhra University awarded Ph D to Tallapaka Manjula.
