Alur (Kurnool): The funds allocated for sanctioning as incentive for pregnant women and lactating mothers were misused by an employee at Alur General Hospital.

One M Urukundamma of Muddanageri village in Alur mandal had admitted in the government hospital at Alur for delivery.

After delivery, the woman was discharged from the hospital. As per the norms, the government would extend financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to every lactating woman under the National Health Mission Scheme.

Urukundamma having knowledge about the financial assistance has approached the hospital clerk Mallikarjuna and asked money.

But, the clerk was diverting the issue instead of responding to her query whenever she approached him.

The other staff working at the government hospital came to know about the issue through Urukundamma. When they checked the records, it was found that she was sanctioned a cheque worth Rs 1,000 and was also given to her.

On learning about the incident, District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) JVVRK Prasad constituted a team to probe the issue and submit a report.

As the report revealed that the allegations were true, he immediately served suspension orders to the clerk Mallikarjuna and a memo to the Medical Officer Dr Jayakrishna.

When The Hans India tried to seek clarification with the DMHO, he was not available over phone.
