Visakhapatnam: The International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ICADR) is conducting a two-day workshop on alternative dispute resolution (Arbitration) for the engineers of water resources department and roads and building department here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, ICADR Secretary and Regional In-Charge JLN Murthy said that alternative dispute resolution refers to a range of methods and techniques for resolving disputes, including unassisted negotiation, non-binding third-party intervention (conciliation or mediation), and binding arbitration.

The Conflict Management Group reviewed and analysed alternative dispute resolution experience in developing countries and developed guidelines for determining whether to initiate, and how to design, alternative dispute resolution programmes. After the workshop, the engineers would be capable of handling the situation by using the techniques legally, he added.

Superintending engineer (R&B) P Murali Krishna said that in the two-day workshop, engineers will be trained with more knowledge in alternative dispute resolution (Arbitration) methods and recent amendments.

The experts from ICADR and Dayanand Murthy, Registrar of Damodaram Sanjeevayya National Law College will train the officials with techniques in engineering arbitration and they will explain about the advantages of implementation of those techniques.
