High Court issues notice on nod to laterite mining
The High Court at Hyderabad issued notices to Principal Secretaries of panchayat raj and mining department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as also to the district collector of Vishakapatnam to explain about granting of permission to one Killi Lovaraju to carry out laterite mining in Sarugudu village of Nathavaram mandal in Vishakapatnam district.
Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad issued notices to Principal Secretaries of panchayat raj and mining department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as also to the district collector of Vishakapatnam to explain about granting of permission to one Killi Lovaraju to carry out laterite mining in Sarugudu village of Nathavaram mandal in Vishakapatnam district.
It directed them to file counter affidavits. The division bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi gave directions to this effect on Wednesday while hearing a Public Interest Litigation petition filed by secretary of PESA Committee, N Subba Rao seeking cancellation of permission granted in April, 2017, for laterite mining to one Kili Lovaraju in violation of rules and guidelines.
The bench refused to grant interim directions, pointing out to the counsel for the petitioner that the other side, the respondent Kili Lovaraju also has to be heard.
