Vijayawada: With the growing population in Vijayawada after declaring Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, traffic congestion has become routine. To overcome the problem, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation has decided widening of road from NTR Circle to Autonagar Bus Terminal. In this regard, a meeting was convened with the house owners of that area at the council hall under the aegis of VMC Commissioner J Nivas on Thursday.

Addressing the house owners, the Commissioner said that at present the road was 80 feet and the road will be widened to 120 feet and all the owners should cooperate with the authorities for the road widening. He said that owners, who cooperate with the VMC in road widening, will be given 1:4 Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) Bonds, the Commissioner said.

Mayor Koneru Sridhar said that road widening will be done on both sides of the existing road equally. He said that the road will be widened from 80 feet to 120 feet. The Mayor said that the land owners will be given TDR bonds instead of cash. City planner B Laxman Rao, deputy city planner Dharma Rao, assistant city planner Jagadish, Balaji and others were present.
