Tirumala/Amaravati: Under the direction of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the TTD administration on Tuesday beat a hasty retreat on its decision to close the Tirumala temple for six days beginning on August 11 for Maha Samprokshanam.

Naidu, who was upset over the TTD’s decision to close the temple as it would cause a lot of inconvenience to the devotees, consulted Agama experts and directed the administration to keep the temple open and perform poojas as usual during the days of Maha Samprokshanam and allow darshan to devotees, by curtailing number of hours, if necessary.

Ever since the TTD came out with the decision a few days ago to close the temple, Hindu seers and Agama experts expressed resentment over keeping the temple shut for the devotees.

Taking their views into consideration, Naidu made more consultations and asked the administration to follow the procedure adopted when Maha Samprokshanam was done in the temple in the past.

Later in the day, TTD chairman P Sudhakar Yadav and Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal told mediapersons that the temple would remain open during Maha Samprokshanam, though for limited time.
