Podili: The YSRCP leaders including Markapuram MLA Janke Venkatareddy participated in Jaladeeksha protest here on Wednesday, demanding that the government construct summer storage tank at the local tank to quench the thirst of the residents.
The MLA Venkatareddy said that though they are not in the power, the YSRCP prepared a detailed project report for Rs 100 crore to construct the summer storage tank and submitted the same to the concerned officials in New Delhi through the Ongole MP YV Subbareddy in 2016.
As the Central government assured positively, he said that they forwarded the copy of the DPR to the minister and officials in the district also to follow up the file and take appropriate action.
Venkatareddy said that he was shocked with the response of the officials to spend crores of rupees for distribution of water without taking up the permanent measures.
He demanded that the government not cheat the public again and again and see the SS tank constricted immediately.
The former MLA, KP Kondareddy, other leaders Udumula Srinivasula Reddy, Sanikommu Pitchireddy, other public representatives and YSRCP cadre participated in the protest.
