Vijayawada: BJP state president Kanna Laxminarayana came down heavily on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for indulging in malicious campaign against BJP over granting of funds for development of the state.

Addressing the party workers at the IV Palace Function Hall here on Sunday on the occasion of felicitating Shaik Baji, who was appointed as secretary of National Minority Morcha, Laxminarayana said though AP was getting adequate grants from Centre for the construction of Polavaram project and other development works, but Naidu was accusing the Union government of neglecting the development of state.

Kanna alleged the state government was trying to claim credit for welfare schemes funded by the Union government. Though Union government sanctioning funds for Chandranna Bima, Kanna said the state government was claiming credit for it. Despite the state government getting funds from the Centre, Kanna said Naidu was indulging in malicious campaign against BJP-led Union government at the Centre.

Alleging large scale corruption took place in the construction of toilets in the state, Kanna said the Centre was sanctioning funds for construction of individual toilets to protect the self-respect of women.

He said under the TDP rule, the housing cost was increased to Rs 6 lakh under various housing schemes for poor. He demanded the TDP government to explain the people how many pre-poll promises it had fulfilled during the 1,500 days rule.

Terming the no-confidence motion as a ‘drama’ staged by the TDP, he appealed to rank and file to work with dedication. Shaik Baji thanked the BJP leaders for appointing him as national secretary of Minority Morcha.
