Actually, Ashok Gajapathi Raju is the senior most leader in the district and even Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu honours him and respects his honesty. He never involves in any unlawful activities and even he never encourages his cadre in such things.
Ashok can be termed as clean leader in entire state. But soon after appointment of Ganta Srinivasa Rao as In-charge Minister, he started dominating the leaders, bureaucrats here. Generally, there is no district party office for Telugu Desam, hence, leaders and MLAs go to Ashok’s bungalow, which can be said as an unofficial party office here for the past three decades.
All the party meetings, reviews and other activities are being organised in the presence of Ashok and on his premises only. No leader, MLAs, MLCs questioned his sovereignty. All the cadre, leaders tries to attract the attention of Ashok Gajapathi Raju and it became mandatory here. But Ganta Srinivasa Rao is reportedly breaking the norms and planning to attract cadre towards him.
Once, he smoothly advised Ashok to step out of the coordination committee meeting as the local leaders dare not to open their lips in the presence of Ashok. So far no other leader in the state could ask him to do so.
Ganta is reportedly planning to contest from Nellimarla constituency in the district as he became unpopular in Bheemili of Vizag district. So he is wooing the leaders like M Geetha, MLA of Vizianagaram, and K Appala Naidu, MLA of Gajapathinagaram, and getting their support here.
Even he is influencing the bureaucrats more than Ashok in the district. Ganta is reportedly skipping some meetings which he has to be share the dais with Ashok. He is in a mood to create his own team here by overtaking Ashok, Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao, another minister here.
Actually, Ganta has higher protocol than Ashok now as he resigned from the Union Cabinet. So, he is encouraging and supporting some mandal level leaders for his political mileage. All these consequences have pushed the cadre into dilemma, they are not in a position to decide themselves whether to follow Ganta, Sujay or Ashok.
A ZPTC from Gajapathinagaram constituency said: “Ganta Srinivasa Rao is supporting us , even he is doing some political favors too. So, we are obeying and following him for our existence. We are in the end of our tenure, so we have to complete our pending works, which would be helpful to people”.
