Hyderabad: The depression over the Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand and north Odisha moved west- northwestwards and lies over southeast Jharkhand, about 20 km south of Jamshedpur. It is very likely to move west northwestwards and maintain its intensity during the next 24 hours and gradually weaken into a well-marked low pressure area thereafter, the Met department bulletin said on Sunday.

As a result, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few/isolated places in Andhra Pradesh from July 23 to 26. No large change during the period July 27-29 is the weather outlook, the bulletin said.

During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, the Southwest Monsoon turned weak in coastal and Rayalaseema districts. Rain occurred at a few places in coastal Andhra and at isolated places in Rayalaseema.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Kurupam (Vizianagaram district) 3, Ichchapuram (Srikakulam), Komarada, Jiyyamma Valasa (both in Vizianagaram), Veeraghattam, Palakonda (both in Srikakulam), Garugubilli (Vizianagaram) and Tekkali (Srikakulam) 2 each.

There was 1 cm of rain each in Sompeta, Seethanagaram, Anakapalle, Balajipet, Chintapalle, Parvathipuram, Pathapatnam, Salur, Gantyada, Mandasa, Bobbili, Ranastalam, Nandavaram and C Belagal.

Meanwhile, the highest day temperature of 37 degrees Celsius was recorded in Nellore and Jangamaheswarapuram. The other temperatures in the State were: Tirupati, Kavali 36 each, Bapatla, Ongole, Kadapa & Nandyal 35 each, Kurnool 34, Machilipatnam, Anantapur 33 each, Nandigama, Vijayawada 32 each, Narsapur, Arogyavaram 31 each, Visakhapatnam Airport 30, Kakinada, Kalingapatnam, Tuni & Visakhapatnam 29 each and Kalingapatnam 27.
