Rajamahendravaram: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Home Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa has said that the state government is very particular about the welfare of police personnel.

Addressing a meeting after inaugurating Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) petrol bunk managed by police department here on Sunday, he said that plans were on the cards to convert vacant sites of police department as commercial complexes to get income, which would be utilised for the welfare of police personnel.

Many sites of police department were vacant and a decision would be taken shortly in this regard. The police were extending their services at the time of natural calamities along with their regular duties.

He advised the respective officials to maintain quality to imbibe confidence among the people. Eluru Range Deputy Inspector General of police T Ravi Kumar Murthi said many sites of police department were vacant in the city and steps would be taken to construct commercial complexes.

IOC chief general manager DV Ramana Rao said that 1.5 lakh litres each of petrol and diesel would be sold from the bunk everyday. IOC was ready to open more bunks in the state. Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai, Rural MLA GB Choudary, Urban MLA Dr A Satyanarayana, Urban Superintendent of Police B Raja Kumari and others were present.
