Construction workers staging a dharna at DCL office in Kakinada on Friday

Kakinada: Construction Workers’ Union, affiliated to IFTU staged a dharna at DCL (Deputy Commissioner of Labour) office here on Friday, demanding that the government extend various benefits to construction workers.

The demands include provision of PF, ESI benefits, Rs 10 lakh accidental insurance, Rs 1 lakh marriage incentive and Rs 1 lakh maternity bereft to women construction workers.

The IFTU state president, J Venkateswarulu, district leaders Bandaru Babu Rao, Mendu Prakash and others led the dharna. 

The participants raised slogans in favour of their demands. Later, they submitted a memorandum to labour department authorities.
