The state government has launched a new scheme of providing Basavatarakam Mother Kits to women after delivery in all government hospitals

Amaravati: The state government has launched a new scheme of providing ‘Basavatarakam Mother Kits’ to women after delivery in all government hospitals.

The scheme was formally launched on Tuesday by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Undavalli as a gift to the womenfolk in the state on the eve of Independence Day.

On this occasion, Naidu said the government will spend Rs 37.70 crore on these kits every year. The government has been distributing ‘NTR Baby Kits’ to the newborn babies in all government hospitals since September 2016, which helped in reducing child mortality and increased institutional deliveries from 42 per cent to 45 per cent.

The government has distributed as many as 5.7 lakh baby kits so far. The Chief Minister hoped that the Mother Kits will further increase institutional deliveries.
