Kidney transplanted successfully at Sentini Hosptial in Vijayawada

 Vijayawada: A first Cadaveric Renal Transplantation was successfully done on a 36-year-old patient at Sentini Hosptial here.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the management of the hospital, Dr M Padam and M Anand, said through Jeevandan organ donation scheme, the doctors could give a new lease of life to a patient from Bhimavaram. 

The patient was on Hemodialysis for the past six months. Cadaveric Renal Transplantation was done on the patient after a kidney was donated from a brain dead patient through Jeevandan scheme.

Urologist G Ajay Kumar said that a kidney failure patient who was on dialysis for the last six months and who was registered under Jeevandan scheme got a kidney for transplantation from a brain dead patient. 

The doctors had successfully performed kidney transplantation and the patient was doing well now.

Nephrologist Ravi Shankar said that due to uncontrolled hypertension the patient’s kidneys failed to function and was on hemodialysis. 

Even though the patient relatives were ready for donation of organ, 

cross matching of blood sample failed and the patient was waiting for a donor for the last six months, said the doctor.
