Srikakulam: New RTC complex building at Amudalavalasa along with roads and platform inaugurated by minister for transport K Atchannaidu on September 4 has turned into an example of poor quality of works.

Total estimated cost of the RTC complex works was Rs 60 lakh. Municipal and road and buildings departments supervised the works. Exactly one week after its inauguration, potholes appeared on roads on the complex premises.

RTC bus station platform, toilets, enquiry counter and internal roads were constructed by RTC engineering wing. But due to low quality works and lack of supervision, passengers are facing problems. The RTC complex was constructed in an irrigation tank land due to lack of government land in prime location.

When contacted, RTC deputy chief traffic manager (DCTM) K Srinivasa Rao said that it was constructed in an irrigation tank in a speedy manner by covering it with gravel, sand and clay. Despite it the soil became lose affecting the surface of the roads, he said adding that repairs would be carried out soon.
