One-time life tax for autos introduced

Amaravati: The State government passed Andhra Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill-2018 by introducing life tax for passenger autos and goods autos. 

Hereafter, the auto and goods vehicle owners need not pay tax on quarterly basis. Nearly four lakh auto owners would get benefit from this new bill. Introducing the Bill in the Assembly, Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu, said that presently 4 lakh passenger auto operators are paying Rs 105 per quarter while 2.20 lakh goods auto operators are paying Rs 420 tax quarterly.

The minister said that hereafter the passenger service auto owners should pay Rs 3,000 for life tax and goods auto owners have to pay Rs 17,500 as life tax. The old vehicle auto operators should pay less than 1.5 per cent for passenger service vehicles and 3 per cent for goods auto service operators compared to original vehicles taxation price. 

On this occasion, the Minister said that the government made an enactment now for the benefit of auto owners. He said that several of unemployed graduates are also working as auto operators. The government announced new taxation system to avoid burden and problems with the officials of Transport and the Police department. 

On this occasion, MLAs G Buchhaiah Chowdary and whip Kuna Ravi Kumar requested the government to take stringent action against the auto operators who run their vehicles with overload. They said that the government should review the cancellation of licenses, if anyone committed the  mistake repeatedly.
