AP Govt to send lawyer on behalf of CM to Dharmabad court

Update: 2018-09-20 05:30 IST

Amaravati: The AP Government on Wednesday decided to appoint a lawyer to attend at Dharmabad court in Maharashtra on behalf of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu regarding Babli project on Godavari River case.

The court issued non-bailable arrest warrant to the Chief Minister recently in a case related to 2010 where TDP MLAs staged a protest against the construction of Babli project in that state. Though Chief Minister initially decided to attend himself directly on September 21, the TDP leaders, ministers and other key leaders suggested Naidu to deploy an advocate after a series of consultations with legal experts.

The case is scheduled to hear on Friday, and the concerned advocate will leave to Dharmabad on Thursday, according to the CMO authorities.  The government advocate will file recall petition on the earlier arrest warrant issued by the Dharmabad Court, sources added.
