Ongole: The abolition of child marriage is a sensitive issue, but everyone should work for it, said the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and senior civil judge T Raja Venkatadri.

He participated in the meeting with the Child Development and Protection Officers on Child Marriages, welfare of old aged people, protection of child rights held at the DLSA office in Ongole on Thursday.

Speaking to the CDPOs, the DLSA secretary requested the officials to cooperate in popularizing the programmes by the DLSA in the common public.

He said that as the child marriage was a sensitive issue, it should be stopped at the very first stage by offering awareness to the public through the aanganwadi workers.

He also asked them to create awareness among the elderly people on the rights of old aged people and their allowance right.

The Woman and Child welfare department assistant director, G Visalakshi and the CDPOs were also participated in the programme.
