Tirupati: Dr Siva Kumar Vallabhapurapu, Associate Professor of Biology at IISER, Tirupati has been awarded the prestigious Wellcome Trust–DBT intermediate fellowship to carry out bio-medical research on the role of NF-KB Signalling pathway in the immune system and cancer development. An award of Rs.3.45 crore has been provided for this purpose and will be active for five years.

Dr Sivakumar has been working in the area that plays critical role in normal homeostasis as well as progression of various diseases including inflammation and cancer. He has done good work in the past that was published in prestigious journals and this award would help him continue the high quality of research. Director Prof KN Ganesh and his colleagues congratulated him.
