Visakhapatnam: As per the instructions of Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement D Gautam Sawang, Visakhapatnam unit raids on Rythu Bazaars, along with weights and measures department officials, here on Saturday.

Officials conducted raids on Rythu Bazaars at Seethammadhara, MVP Colony, Gopalapatnam, Narasimhanagar, Kancherapalem and found irregularities and lapses under the supervision of regional vigilance and enforcement officer of Visakhapatnam region D Koteswar Rao.

Speaking to The Hans India, D Koteswar Rao said that as per the DG orders, they conducted raids across the state and identified 25 unauthorised traders who were utilising the space in the markets without paying rents at Rythu Bazaars.

“Our officials identified 23 defaulters and registered cases under Weights & Measurement Act and seized weighing scales”, he said.

PM Naidu, DSP of Vigilance and Enforcement (Vizag Region ), said that the legal metrology authorities registered cases for cheating the people by using faulty weighing machines and the officials would submit a report to the District Collector and the Deputy director (Marketing) in this regard.
