Amaravati: On the request of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, Deep Ocean Exploration and Research Inc (DOER), marine company of United States, expressed willingness to invest Rs 200 crore in AP, informed CM office here. He discussed about the opportunities available in the state with the company and invited them to utilise their technology to explore marine wealth in AP.

The DOER expressed its readiness to set up its Research and Development wing in AP to offer marine related services. As state is having long coastline and port facilities, the DOER is keen to explore AP as its strategic location on the east coast of India. Initially the company is ready to invest Rs 200 crore to train scientists and technicians in marine technology in AP. The Chief Minister asked the company delegation to explore opportunities to develop aqua culture too.

It may be noted that the DOER was founded in 1992 by Dr Sylvia Earie, a noted American marine biologist and oceanographer. The company designs, develops, markets and leases subsea robotics and submersible systems and also provides under water systems integration and design engineering services. My Liz Taylor, daughter of Dr Sylvia Earie and president and CEO of DOER handling the business since 1994. Ian Griffith is the head of operations at DOER and leading subsea specialist.
