Ongole: As part of the Police Martyrs Commemorations, the Prakasam district police organised an Open House programme at the Police Head Quarters in Ongole on Monday.

In remembrance of police forces that fought Chinese army in the country border and had brave deaths on October 21, 1959, the police departments in all states observe Police Martyrs Day on every October 21 and commemorate October 15 to 21 as Police Martyrs Week every year.

During the open house on Monday, SP Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu said that the station house officers in the district conducted elocution and essay writing competitions for children from various schools. He said about 5,400 students have participated in the competitions and prizes will be given to top performers.

In the open house, the police personnel explained the students about the operation of bomb disposal team, deep search metal detector, hand held metal detector, door frame metal detector, different types of fire arms like 410 Musket, .303 riffle, SLR riffle, AK.47, Light Machine Gun, 9 MM Carbine, Glock Pistol, VL Pistol, grenade launcher, bullet proof jackets, ROBO Dress, riot gear equipment, tear gas related to security aspects.

They also explained them about Locked House Monitoring system, Drone Camera, body worn cameras, Dial-100, Police WhatsApp number, iCOP and eVerify applications and related to IT initiatives.

They created awareness in the children on traffic signals, road safety rules, breath analysers, speed guns and other related traffic regulation and enforcement and about VHF, UHF, hand held sets related to police communications.

The finger prints bureau explained the children about searching of crime scene, identification of finger prints by using poly ray light, UV Light and lifting of finger prints and other clues from the crime scene by using different types of powders, finger print kit, body fluid kit. The dog squad explained about the tracker and sniffer dog squads used for the tracking the clues and explosives.

The SP urged the students to set higher goals, engineer proper plans and achieve their targets with discipline and dedication. He also asserted the citizens to strive for the development of society and state, duly abiding the law of the land.
