Visakhapatnam: Buoyed by the national recognition achieved by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) in the field of sports, its CMD PK Rath on Thursday interacted with sportspersons, regular coaches of various disciplines, international and national medallists and sports department employees to enthuse them to further excel in the sports arena.

For the first time, the RINL was bestowed with “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar” by the President of India, in the category of “identification and nurturing of budding and young talent”.

Speaking on the occasion, Rath complimented the sports fraternity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant for the honour. He appreciated the efforts of all the concerned and stated that this was achieved with commitment and hard work.

The RINL is always in the forefront in developing sports infrastructure and encouraging the talent in Ukkunagaram (Steel Plant's township) and also in the surrounding areas, he mentioned.

RINL Director (Personnel) Kishore Chandra Das commended the sports department, coaches and all those connected with sports for achieving this award. He observed that this is a very big achievement and assured continued support for sports in RINL.

Executive Director Debasish Ray, General Manager and Chairman VSP Sports Committee RV Rao, General Manager L Bhaskar, R Sumee, Bhaskar Naidu, LV Ramana Rao and K Srinivas of Ukkunagaram Roller Skating Association and others were present. HOD (Sports) MS Kumar explained in detail the efforts made by the sports department collective in bagging national laurels in the field of sports.
