Amaravati: As a major development in elections procedure in Andhra Pradesh, more than 23 lakh members applied for enrollment in voters’ list in the State for the first time. Are of them just crossed 18 years.

RP Sisodia, Chief Electoral Officer, AP, said that during the special summery revision of electoral roll held in the month of October for 2018, they have received 23,17,870 applications from citizens across the thirteen districts under Form 6 alone.

Form 6 is an application for inclusion of name in electoral roll for first time. He explained that the Election Commission has received a total of 30,99,641 applications under various forms including Form 6, 6(A), 7, 8 and 8(A).

Out of them, more than 23 lakh youngsters applied for the vote, which is a good development in Democracy to ensure inclusive and impartial election system, he observed. The Commission already accepted applications of 7,94,192, rejected 1,16,767 and 14,06,911 applications are under pending for consideration.

He said that out of the total 30,99,641 applications under all sections, 16,89,876 are in pending for consideration. 12,43,283 applications were accepted, and 1,66,482 applications were rejected. Highest number of applications for first time vote have been received from East Godavari district, 2,85,647 citizens applied. 2,65,897 in Krishna, 2,52,264 in Guntur and 2,12,943 in West Godavari district.

Least number of applications received for first time voting right from Vizianagaram district with just 52,326 and Srikakulam district with a little more, that is 79,707. Election Commission also received applications under various forms including; Form 6(A) is an application for inclusion of name in electoral roll by an Overseas Indian elector.

Form 7 is an application for objecting inclusion of name in electoral roll or seeking deletion of name from electoral roll. Form 8 is an application for correction to entered in electoral roll. Form 8(A) is an application for transposition of entry from one part of electoral roll to another part of electoral roll of a constituency.

Sisodia said that the people can apply for vote under Form 6 in 365 days, but they could not apply in the remaining forms. He said that the commission will publish final electoral roll in the month of January.

He said that by the end of this month, the they will prepare the final list of electors for the state. At the same time, he explained that even after publishing the final list of electoral rolls, the Election Commission will accept new applications under Form 6. This process will be continued only for ten days before the date of nominations submission by the candidates in the elections.
