Amaravati: Kidari Sravan Kumar, the youngest minister in the Cabinet, said though he had to assume charge in special and sad circumstances, he was confidence that he would discharge his duties as minister effectively with the guidance and help of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in whom now he is seeing his slain father.

In a brief chat with The Hans India soon after being sworn-in as the member of Cabinet at Undvalli on Sunday, he said, “As a minister I will have a very good opportunity do a lot of good things for the people of the state. The Chief Minister promised to help me throughout my career and hence there will not be any problem for me in understanding the administration and governance, even though I am new to governance.”

The IITian-turned-politician said that though he had lost his father, he was seeing him in Chandrababu Naidu and hoped that he would guide him like his father.

Sravan Kumar, who became minister in the aftermath of his father and Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao’s assassination by Maoists, said that this was a difficult period, particularly for his family and generally for tribal people in the state.

At this juncture, the Chief Minister took a right decision in right time and appointed him as a minister, even though he was not holding membership in any of the Houses of Legislature of Andhra Pradesh, he said.

He said that Naidu instilled a lot of confidence and courage in him and the tribal people in general by inducting him into the Cabinet. “Definitely it will boost our morale and I will work hard for the upliftment of tribal people in the state,” he vowed.

Stating that he would contest in the 2019 elections and win the seat, Sravan Kumar said TDP would form the government again in the state.
