Visakhapatnam: The jury members of painting competitions of Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant (SSTPP) of NTPC has selected 16 paintings for national-level painting competitions to be held on December 12 on the occasion of Energy Conservation Day.

As part of the national awareness campaign ‘Energy Conservation-2018,’ the Union Ministry of Power is conducting the painting competitions to the school children across the country.

In Andhra Pradesh, over 24,000 students from 1,548 schools across 13 districts participated in the first-round of the competitions. After the preliminary selections, the selected 1,800 best ones, sent to SSTPP of NTPC, Paravada for final selections. The jury of the SSTPP in the first phase selected over 50 paintings on October 31 and finals conducted on Wednesday night.

Winners of Class 4 to 6
The first prize was won by P Sreelekha, DAV Public School, Vijayawada. She won the cash prize of Rs 20,000. Adbala Mahi of MPP School, East Godavari district won second prize with Rs 15,000 cash prize and Syanthan of Srishit World School, Ukkunagaram, justified with thrid prize with cash award of Rs 10,000

Winners from Class 7 to 9
B Mahidar and V Prabhu of NSM Public School of Vijayawada won the first and second prizes with Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 cash awards respectively and G Bhuvaneswari of Kendriya Vidyalaya, ONGC, Rajamahendravaram won third prize with a cash of award of Rs 10,000. All the winners are promoted for National Level competitions.
