Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh and Singapore have taken the first step towards developing an exhibition- cum- community centre called the “Welcome Gallery” which will be the commercial core of the upcoming capital city of Amaravati.

Singapore Minister-in- charge of Trade Relations S Iswaran and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu flicked the ignition switch as they unveiled the commemorative plaque as part of the foundation-laying ceremony.

The Amaravati Development Partners (ADP) Private Limited, the joint venture between Singapore Amaravati Investment Holdings (SAIH) and Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC), will construct the Welcome Gallery on 2.6 hectares land at Lingayapalem in Amaravati.

Stating that the capital construction works have taken a shape, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said that the administrative capital region works are continuing at a brisk space and hoped Amaravati will be one of the best five cities in the world. The capital region has many advantages like beautiful river front and the government is using the best technology for the construction works, he said.

Stating that AP government was using the best practices and best knowledge for the development of the state, Naidu hoped the proposed Welcome Gallery will play very important role in the development of the capital because international companies can showcase their technology at the Gallery.

The Gallery comprises exhibition zone, community zone, engagement zone as well as co-working spaces to house start-ups, he said.
The CM said that the Singapore government has extended great support to Andhra Pradesh during the last four years and drawn master plan for the capital free of cost. Singapore had given a shape to his vision of new capital city.

The master plan was designed in three phases as seed capital area, capital city area and finally the capital region and now the capital construction works took a shape, he said.

Minister for Communication and Information, Government of Singapore S Iswaran said the proposed Welcome Gallery would be very useful to showcase the world technology as many multinational companies can visit the Gallery and showcase their technology and products.
