This summer brings to you an addition to your skincare products which does the work of a cleanser, toner and makeup-remover while also keeping your skin hydrated. Sounds unbelievable? Well it is true, say experts. This seemingly impossible product is Micellar water.

So what is Micellar water?
Micellar water is basically tiny droplets of oil (micelles) suspended in water. While the product looks like regular ol’ water, its viscosity and texture is different because of the addition. Micellar water does not require rinsing as well. Women in France have been using micellar water for years due to their harsh water which damages skin. This product, owing to its wide range of benefits and multi-purpose nature is quickly becoming a skin care essential all over the world.

How does Micellar Water work?
The idea behind micellar water is that the oil droplets suspended in water will draw out makeup, excess oil on the skin, dirt, sebum and other daily impurities but unlike traditional soap and/or facewash, won’t leave your face dry. Rather than containing a foamy solution that strips your skin and leaves behind harsh chemicals, micelles cling on to the dirt and makeup on your skin and dissolve them while leaving behind a glowy, hydrated finish.

Also, unlike most make-up cleansers, it does not leave the face oily. It works on range of skin types, though, oilier skin types might want to supplement it with a traditional facial cleanser. Removal of very heavy foundation or eye products like waterproof mascara or eyeliner might require traditional make-up removers. Micellar water should be applied on a cotton pad or cotton ball and then on the face to remove impurities.
Benefits of Micellar water

  • It is great for travel as it combines quite a few skincare products into one.
  • It is easy to carry around in your bag while working as it gives fresh, hydrated skin on the go.
  • Since it is non-alcoholic, it can also replace your hand sanitizer which can dry your hands.
  • Micellar water can be used as a make-up brush cleaner as well.
  • One bottle of micellar water is definitely cheaper than 3-4 products so it is easy on the pocket too.
