Husqvarna India launch confirmed for next year
Bajaj Auto and KTM are celebrating their 10th anniversary of strategic partnership here in India. The KTM Duke 125 to Duke 390 and the RC 125 to RC 390, are being produced at Bajaj’s Chakan facility and are being distributed by the two partners globally.

Celebrating this partnership, both Bajaj Auto and KTM have decided to take the Husqvarna brand global. On the history front, Husqvarna is the world’s second oldest motorcycle brand started in 1903. KTM had acquired the Husqvarna brand from BMW in 2013. After this new positioning, the volumes have gone up to an all-time high with over 30,000 units being sold in 2016.
Top executives at both Bajaj Auto and KTM have decided on the strategy to take the Husqvarna brand global and scale up the business multiple times. Models like the Vitpilen 401, Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 701 will be produced at Mattighofen, Austria and will be launched in early 2018. The Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401’s global production will be shifted to Bajaj’s Chakan facility later in 2018.
Bajaj Auto aims at doubling the number of KTM and Husqvarna branded motorcycles that are produced in India from the expected 1,00,000 in 2017 to 2,00,000 in the coming years. The Pulsar maker is also aiming at selling Husqvarna motorcycles at a similar level as KTM products in India and Indonesia.
