Police intensify vehicle checks in West Godavari
Traffic police have started a special drive to check motor bikes with no number plates in the city on Thursday. Traffic DSP A Srinivasa Rao started the drive at Old Bus stand. The police were facing problem in identifying the violators of traffic rules as some motor vehicle riders do not have numbers.

Traffic DSP A Srinivasa Rao started the drive at Old Bus stand. The police were facing problem in identifying the violators of traffic rules as some motor vehicle riders do not have numbers.
The police failed to serve the e-challan to the violators due to this problem. Following this, the City Traffic police have started the drive and stopped scores of vehicles with no number plates on it. The DSP warned them and fixed number stickers on the spot to the bikes by collecting a requisite fee.
The DSP warned that if anyone fails to display number plate of the vehicle, stringent action would be initiated against them. He said some people fixing number plates, which are not clearly visible to cops and it is in violation of traffic rules. Due to the no-number plates, the chain-snatchers have a chance to commit crime.
During the drive, the traffic police have fixed the number sticker after verifying the chassis number of the vehicle, he added.
Traffic SIs M Rambabu, Ravi Kumar and other traffic personnel participated in the drive.
