Bajaj’s flagship bike, the Dominar 400 has been doing monthly volumes of approximately 4500 units with exports taking up 2500 units. The Dominar was launched last year and Bajaj’s initial target of 10,000 units a month is still a long way to go.

Talking of Dominar’s sales, S Ravikumar, President, Business Development, Bajaj Auto says “We do believe it will take time for the brand to gain ground in India since it has an established player like Royal Enfield to contend with.” The Dominar is exported to markets like the Latin America and parts of ASEAN countries. Bajaj will soon be exporting the motorcycle to several other countries as well.

The Dominar 400 is powered by the same motor as the KTM Duke 390but in a different state of tune. The 373.3cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected motor punches out 35 HP of power and 35 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
Bajaj’s overall market share is at 17 percent by the end of the second quarter this year and the company hopes to gain an additional 6 percent (making it 23 percent) by March 2018.
