It has been Bajaj’s modus operandi to update existing models with parts borrowed from their higher spec brethren. Case in point being the Bajaj Pulsar 150, which is set to be updated for 2018 with mechanical and cosmetic parts from the larger Pulsar 180 for a more premium feel.

Updates include fatter front forks and the inclusion of a rear disc brake. The seats too receive a makeover - they are now a split unit instead of a single-piece one. Cosmetic updates include a new dual-tone shade.

We expect most of the changes to be restricted to the chassis and paint. The 149cc motor is likely to be carried over in the same state of tune as it was only updated last year. Read our first ride review here. This motor makes 14PS of power at 8000rpm and 13.4Nm of torque at 6000rpm and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Apart from the fatter front forks and rear disc brake, the twin gas-charged rear shock absorbers, the 17-inch alloy wheels and the 240mm front disc brake are expected to be carried over to the updated bike.

The Pulsar 150 has always been the fast and reliable commuter in the Pulsar range. With the new bike, however, Bajaj is likely to add a dash of sportiness to help it stay relevant against newer rivals such as the Honda X-Blade.

The spy images seem to have been captured at a dealer stockyard. So we expect the bike to be officially launched sometime next week. The outgoing version of the Pulsar 150 is priced at Rs 73,626 (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the new updates, expect the price to go up by around Rs 3,000. However, even at the new price point, the 2018 Pulsar 150 will still undercut the Honda X-Blade (Rs 78,500) and Hero Xtreme Sports (Rs 78,226).
