Tough targets to enhance income in Vijayawada railway division
Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager R Dhananjeneyulu said that the Vijayawada division would set tough targets to enhance income during the current financial year. The DRM said the division was facing raise and fall in finance due to fall in business from Krishnapatnam and Kakinada ports.

Addressing a press conference after taking charge as the DRM of Vijayawada division, Dhananjeneyulu said that they were planning to improve goods traffic from the division. “We will focus to improve transportation of food grains and fertilisers from the division. There is a huge scope for transportation of food grains as Krishna district and some other districts produce plenty of food grains”, he said.
He also said there is a plan to improve passenger facilities in Vijayawada station at a cost of Rs 5 crore and plans are under process for other stations in the division also. “Two escalators and two lifts will be installed at Vijayawada station. All platforms in the station will have the facility if the proposed escalators and lifts are arranged,” he said.
He said sufficient arrangements were provided to make cashless transactions at Vijayawada station for the benefit of passengers. Mechanisation was introduced in cleaning to ensure 24 hours sanitation in the station, he said.
