Hyderabad: With the objective of popularising farm mechanisation and the usage of forage harvesters, German Agriculture Alliance, an alliance of agricultural companies in Germany, recently inked a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments.

As a chair of the alliance for Asia, Claas representative signed this MoU. Claas, a $4-billion family-owned company, which operates in India through its subsidiary Claas Agricultural Machinery Private Limited, is now working the state governments to take the agreement forward.

“This agreement will focus on opportunities to improve knowledge transfer and farm mechanisation in the country,” Mrityunjaya Singh, Managing Director, Claas Agricultural Machinery, told the media here on Tuesday. He expects to sign similar agreement with Telangana. He further said Claas which entered into Indian market 27 years ago had brought grain and forage harvesters to the country.
