“Before soft launch, we’ll have trial run of 4G services in Mahabubnagar and Khammam. Soft launch will be in April and commercial roll out by June. BSNL is implementing Rs123-cr capex for rolling out 4G services and we have already ordered for the equipment.

We have planned for 550 e-nodes sites for 4G services and 424 e-nodes for 3G additionally,” V Sundar, CGM, BSNL-Telangna circle, told the media here on Monday.

In his first interaction with the media after assuming charge as CGM few days ago, Sundar further said that new tariff plans have been well received by subscribers. “We added 13 lakh new connections in eights months in Telangana and AP and the market share rose to 11.77 per cent from 11.68 per cent during April-September this year,” he said.

BSNL has installed Wi-Fi facility at 12 metro stations and will expand in a phased manner. The total number of 2G sites in Telangana is 3,432 and 4,300 in AP. It has 2,442 sites for 3G services in AP and 2,112 sites in Telangana.

BSNL is also in the process of setting up 118 rural Wi-Fi exchanges in Telangana and AP and these’re expected to become operational by March 2018. The telecom major is also strengthening mobile signals in the twin cities and for this, and has already ordered for new GSM equipment under Phase-8.

BSNL is offering land line at Rs49 monthly rental and unlimited broadband at Rs249 per month. Land line installation is at free of cost in addition to free night calling and Sunday free calling, said Sundar.
