Hyderabad: City-based startup Play Go Solutions launched parents children collaborative product, Lr ‘n’ Play, which stands for learn, earn and play. The application available on Google Play store, can be downloaded on android smartphones and tablets only. It can be installed for free whereas its subscription cost for add on feature ranges from Rs 199 to Rs 1099 per month.

The startup is the brainchild of two working professional parents, Kiran Reddy and Shilpa Rao. “We have researched many apps under the parenting segment, the ones in market are either for parental control or only worksheets for learning. After using them, children get bored over a period of time.

Hence, we developed this product which includes features like parental control, rewards and concept-based learning,” said Shilpa Rao, co-founder, Lr ‘n’ Play. With an initial investment of Rs 2 crore towards development of the platform, the startup prefers to stay self-funded. However, the founders are looking to clock a turnover of Rs 30 crore for the current fiscal.

Kiran Reddy, co-founder, Lr ‘n’ Play, said: “While the app can be downloaded on one of the parent’s smartphone, it can still be used to monitor as many number of children or devices. Its features are to monitor, block apps, set time limit, set tasks, it shows usage statistics, and children can earn extra time and rewards by solving worksheets.”

At present, worksheets for subjects like Maths, English, Hindi or Telugu are available for children studying from class 1 to 5. By next six months, science, foreign languages and curriculum for class 6 to 8 would be added.

Shilpa added, “the worksheets are based on national curriculum, and are grade appropriate topics. The information provided helps them to get into the depth of the subject, and questions are asked to check if the child can remember, understand and reply.”
