The director of "Do the Right Thing" and "Malcom X" called the Academy Awards "lily white". For the second consecutive year, Oscars nominees list is almost exclusively white, which sparked the creation of a new hashtag on social media "#OscarsSoWhite". It was fittingly shared on 18 January Martin Luther King'Jr. Day

Ironically, this year's Academy president is black (Cheryl Boone Isaacs), and so are the host (Regina Hudlin) and the producer (Chris Rock). In a lenghty Facebook post hashtagged "#OscarsSoWhite", Spike Lee asked:" We Can't Act?!"
