It may be once bitten twice shy for Saqib Salem as far as his journey is concerned in Bollywood, but he has no regrets as he feels because of that he has been able to make it up onto the Bollywood horizon.

Saqib Saleem started his Bollywood journey with YRF production house through, "Mujhse Fraandship Karoge.” Surprisingly, Saqib was not even sure of getting a break in Hindi filmdom. Little did he know that his girlfriend who had shifted to Mumbai as she was keen on making it onto the Bollywood industry would give him a call to join her in Mumbai.

”Yes! Like an emotional lover, I left everything and shifted from Delhi to Mumbai just to be with her. Well! One fine day, I got a call from Shaanu Sharma and here I am. I believe in destiny," quips Saqib.

So what happened to your beloved? "Well! I would only say that God has some reason for you to be here in Mumbai. Especially for me –if it was not for my girlfriend, I would not have made it up here in the film industry. We parted ways as by then I understood that we were not made for each other. Initially, I did not even think of being an actor. I told this to Shanoo Sharma [casting director YRF] that I am not sure to be trying as an actor!”

Saqib is not playing Virat Kohli though he feels as though his dreams of being a cricketer is being fulfilled by playing a cricketer in ”Dishoom" which hit the theaters on Friday. "I have not copied Virat, but yes I am playing a cricketer in the film and have just followed Virat a bit. I too was a cricketer during my childhood days thus playing this character is like fulfilling my dreams of being a cricketer. In the film, I play Viraj Sharma who is kidnapped and what happens to this character –whether he is dead or alive? John Abraham and Varun Dhawan are trying to find him out. The crux of the tale revolves around me.”

Saqib is very excited for one of his future film titled, ”Dobara" which is a Hollywood remake, "Yes! The reason being very simple, I will be working with my sister Huma Qureshi for the first time in this film. As brother and sister, we would keep arguing over petty issues while we were growing together. But now, I have realized the importance of our relationship. We are good friends now. I know whatever little Huma tells me, it is owing for my betterment only. I try to take her advice in a positive manner.”

So what is that one thing as a younger brother Saqib tells Huma to improve on? "Nothing much. However, at times I keep correcting Huma to sit in an erect position. Huma casually sits back with slightly awkward position, Hunchback. So, often I keep correcting her on his sitting position.”

That’s like a real brother-sister relationship. Kudos to Saqib and Huma for being there for each other always.
