Sunil perfect for 2 Countries remake: N Shankar
The songs recording session of Sunil’s next, a remake of Malayalam hit ‘2 Countries’ with N Shankar, was held in Hyderabad on Friday. In-demand composer Gopi Sunder is on board to render tunes for the project, which will be produced by Shankar.

Speaking later, Sunil said, “I took an instant liking to ‘2 Countries.’ Dileep has starred in it and I’ve remade one of his films in Telugu as ‘Poola Rangadu.’ I’m following the same sentiment again. The film would be a full-fledged entertainer.”
Shankar said they will go on floors in September and will wrap up the project by December-end. “The first schedule will be in Hyderabad for 15 days. Later an elaborate US schedule follows. Without losing the flavor of the original, we are tailoring the script to suit Telugu sensibilities,” he noted and added that nobody apart from Sunil fits the lead actor’s part.
Released last year, ‘2 Countries’, about the tale of a shrewd guy who goes through immigration issues, turned out to be the second highest grossing Malayalam comedy. Directed by Shafi, it, besides Dileep, featured Mamta Mohandas and Isha Talwar.
