Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Kaabil’, which was supposed to clash with Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Raees’ on January 26, will now hit the theatres a day early, but director Sanjay Gupta feels competition is not the reason behind the strategy.

The makers recently announced that ‘Kaabil’ will be in theatres on January 25 from the 6 pm show onwards. The action-thriller features Hrithik as a blind man who avenges the death of his girlfriend, played by Yami Gautam.

When asked if releasing a day early will help the film, Gupta said, “It would probably help in the sense that, 26th is a holiday, so coming on the night before does make it a sensible business. There are so many people who go to watch a movie when there is holiday the next day.”

The ‘Jazbaa’ director says it is a good move from the point of view of audience, and feels it has got nothing to do with any other film clashing with ‘Kaabil’.

“Me as a family man, I know that we can watch a late night show and enjoy that. From that point of view it is a very good move. I don't think it has got anything much to do with any other film coming, not coming, or getting into the competition space. I don't think it's about that.”
