Filmmaker P Ram Mohan sprung a surprise on Thursday by announcing that his production venture, ‘Pittagoda’, featuring Punarnavi Bhupalam and Vishwadev Rachokonda, will be hitting the screens on December 24. Speaking to Talkies, he said, “It’s difficult for a small film to get a release date and if there’s a vacant slot, you have to jump on it.

Else it would be a huge challenge to get a right date with the number of films being made in Tollywood of late. Luckily Nani-starrer ‘Nenu Local’ and Suriya’s ‘Singham 3’ have been postponed and we’ve decided to occupy the December 24 slot. I’m hoping the holiday season works in favour of us.”

He added, “Although we are yet to amp up the promotions, the teaser and the songs have ticked all the right boxes. Attaching the teaser with ‘Dhruva’ has helped us big time.”Borrowed from real life incidents of the film’s director Anudeep, ‘Pittagoda’, Ram Mohan says, is a coming-of-age story of four good for nothing friends from Godavarikhani, Telangana.

“It’s the story of love and friendship and is told in a light-hearted way. We’ve shot it in Godavarkhani and Ramagundam in peak summer. Although the temperature was hovering around 45 48 degrees Celsius, the nature of work was such that we’ve never felt it,” he pointed out.

The soft-spoken producer, who also penned the film’s screenplay, insists that his good friend and mentor Suresh Babu is giving it a release on Suresh Productions. “I’m the content maker and he the distributor,” he said on a lighter note.
